Junior School News: Week 8, Term 2, 2021

‘Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser,

Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning’ – Proverbs 9:9

This week we have been able to have some sports gala sessions run by our Senior Sports Science classes. These sessions double as assessment pieces for our older students. The enjoyment our youngest students get from these interactions is just brilliant to witness. Our mentoring program this year has been embedded into our Formation program, which is timetabled. This has resulted in our most consistent and engaging mentoring program to date. Mentoring at St Edmund’s takes place in many forms and we believe it is vital for connections to be made across the school. We look forward to continued opportunities for our younger students to mix appropriately with our older students.

This will be the final Junior School News for this term. If you are going away in the break, have a wonderful time and be safe. If you are staying in Canberra, feel free to check out the Holiday Program run for a few days here at St Edmund’s. Details about the Team HEAT program are included below.

Pick-up and Drop-off Safety – Safety of our students is obviously of great importance to our community. Please note that the staff carpark (accessed from Canberra Avenue) is not a safe place for drop-off or pick-up on school days. Cars coming in and out of the driveway pose a significant risk to our students and we do not want students in this area. If we notice your son is being dropped off or picked up at this location we will speak with you about this.

Sacramental Program – Congratulations the 30-odd students who received their First Eucharist (Holy Communion) or Confirmation Sacraments at St Christopher’s Cathedral last night. It was a very special occasion for the school community and those particular boys and their families.

Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday – Monday 14 June

ACT Cross Country – Wednesday 16 June. Best of luck to Darcy Borghouts who will be competing at the ACT Cross Country Championships on this day.
