As we come to the end of Term 1, Year 12 students, in particular, are considering their post-school options. ANU applications have opened and close on 23 May 2022. We will be holding a further information session on ‘all things Uni’ for our Tertiary students at the beginning of Term 2. University Admissions Centre (UAC) will be sending information to students on 12 April. I would encourage students who are intending to apply to University to follow UAC on their ‘socials’. They have done a lot of work developing digital content and hold informative webinars throughout the year. Their website is www.uac.edu.au
Students who are applying to ANU are reminded to come and see me with any questions you have regarding your application and the Co-curricular and Service requirements. ANU have also created a schedule of informative webinar sessions on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5 pm. They are recorded so students are able to access them in their own time if they are unable to participate live. There are many other pathways to explore as possible avenues after school. Students have been using our St Edmund’s Career Website during Personal Formation time in Year 11 and 12. We have plans to have students in Year 7-10 to also access this from Term 2. Please ask your Year 11 and 12 students to show you what they have access to. Once they register, they can continue to access the material available even when they leave St Edmund’s. The website is www.seccareers.com.au
I would encourage all students and parents to consider every option available at the moment and to have honest discussions with people in your networks regarding the reality of University study and also the experience of working in a trade. Both avenues have pros and cons and it is important that all options are considered when exploring options for the future.
