Year 12 AST – Focused and prepared
Year 12 ATAR seeking students will begin their final preparations for the AST on Friday 30 August with a Preparation Day. This full day workshop has been prepared by Mr Norman Foskett, who has facilitated the weekly AST workgroups, and a number of specialist teachers and is designed to provide guidance and advice to the boys on the various components of the test.
The Preparation Day begins with some light refreshments in the Edmund Rice Centre at 8.30am with the program starting at 9.00am. Morning tea and lunch will also be provided and the boys are reminded that it is a non-uniform day for those involved.
The AST itself will take place on 3 and 4 September at the College with students invited to arrive at 8.00am on each day for breakfast before moving to the Hall at 8.50am. It is essential that each student sitting the AST bring their school ID each day and arrive in plenty of time to be seated.
If on the day you feel unwell it is strongly advised that you do not sit the test. A doctor’s medical certificate must be obtained for the day missed to qualify for entry into the 2nd sitting in October. Pharmacy certificates are not accepted.
Students who have been granted Special Provisions by the Board of Senior Secondary Studies for the AST should speak with Mr Foskett regarding the location of their sitting. Please do not arrive at the College as there will not be an exam paper for you.
The College would like to wish all of the boys well in their final preparations and in the AST proper and know each will prepare with focus and apply their best efforts.
If students or parents have any questions regarding the Preparation Day or the AST please contact the Teaching and Learning office at the College or alternatively the BSSS link below contains detailed information on the AST.
