Captains Corner – Coping with Coronavirus

As Week 1 of Term 2 has come to a conclusion and Week 2 begins students are reminded of the dedication held by teachers as we continue online schooling. Innovations such as how we sign into our classes and lesson layouts are indicators to how well teachers have adapted into this new online world. Students have been able to maintain the same structure of learning as they did before Coronavirus and this is because of our communities’ vigilance. There are still some students who have been going into school because their parents are essential workers and the boys are too young to look after themselves. These boys have utilised the libraries facilities and have continued to work as their classmates at home do. The ACT has been able to eradicate all of the COVID-19 cases and this can be attributed to our strong community in Canberra. We have banded together to protect and provide for our most vulnerable in the community. With talks of Seniors being able to go back to school morale amongst students have been lifted however the situation can change very quickly.

During this time, it is extremely important we are supporting each other and checking in on people’s mental wellbeing. Lifeline calls have risen by 20% since the pandemic begun as people feel they are pushed to their limits. Whilst we are isolated in distance we are not isolated in relationships; we must continue to text, call and talk to our friends and check in on them. I highly recommend doing some physical exercise in the morning to feel motivated and to be placed in the right frame of mind for the rest of your day.

I thank you for taking the time to be involve and informed with the ongoing of our school and wish everyone stays healthy and happy.
