Football Season 2019 – New President Welcome

Welcome to Season 2019!

Last week, St Edmunds Football held its Annual General Meeting. A new look committee was elected to manage the club’s operations. I am proud to have been elected President where I will serve you and your boys as they commit to representing their school and the wider Eddie’s Football Community.

I would like to acknowledge the work undertaken by the outgoing president Andrew Fernance and the 2018 committee. Their efforts have enabled the club to complete a great year and provide a stable platform for the new committee to launch Season 2019.

The seamless transition of course would not be possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of Mel Wilson and the steady advice being provided by Anne Rhodes. Thank you!

Who am I you ask? Well, here are a few facts that may explain why I wanted to be involved in the operation of our Football Club. My father migrated from England and was a tenacious midfielder. I remember watching many games from the sideline and grew to love the sport and the skills necessary to have 11 players on the field playing in unison.

During my Defence Force service I wanted to take on every opportunity and gave all three codes a crack. Some amazing experiences were had playing Rugby 7’s in Egypt with the Great Pyramids of Giza as the backdrop, representing the San Diego Lions Aussie Rules club in California and playing football in Jordan on a dust filled gravel pitch. Each of these experiences helped me to discover and respect the skills needed for each code and the teamwork necessary to play at your best.

This year our club will explore an opportunity to hone individual and team skills through a partnership with Narrabundah Football Club. Our boys will receive coaching and mentoring throughout the year to provide us with every chance of not only taking home the Premiership, but also taking that elusive double crown.

Your son has chosen to be part of the next chapter and we invite you to share in the rich experience your boy will be given as we make our college football, the premier sport at Eddie’s.

We look forward to seeing you around the grounds and welcoming you to our committee meetings. Please reach out to the committee below should you have any concerns or conversely ideas to manage the club’s operations:
