On Thursday 22 March we held our annual Senior School Athletics Carnival. With house and school spirit at an all-time high, students attended the day filled with enthusiasm and excitement. Treacy House was coming in hot after another successful Swimming Carnival. Coach Gair had her troops revved up as she was pushing for a clean sweep in the sporting carnivals for 2018. Against her were five other Heads of House pushing their athletes to perform at their best. Throughout the day heats were competed in, records tumbled and finals were won.
After a full day of Athletics it was the final event of the day that saw the crowds flock to the stands. The annual Teachers v Students Tug of War competition pitted students against the teachers in an epic battle of not only muscular strength but mental toughness. The teachers, under the tutelage of Mr Hausen (MIC of Lifting Heavy Objects) took a commanding lead in the best of three series. Unfortunately old age and some weary teachers couldn’t hold on in the remaining two battles. The students came away with a 2-1 series win to extend their dominance over the teachers to three years.
At the end of the day house points were counted and the results were in. Coach Gair had pulled of the incredible double header walking away with a commanding victory. Congratulations to all students who participated throughout the day.
