Junior School News: Week 4, Term 2, 2021

Last week we enjoyed some wonderful events. Firstly, our students celebrated Founder’s Day with a Mass and some fun activities. Congratulations to Harry Raby (Year 6) for his Brother Matt McKeon Faith and Service Award. Please see Mr Zavone’s Vortex article for more details on this special award, along with other award winners.

Our Mother’s Day Mass and morning tea was another standout event. I hope those who were able to make it enjoyed spending special time with their son/s. It is always a memorable event and lovely to see the students connecting with their Mums/Grandmothers. Congratulations to Ms Cusack and her team for pulling it all together.

On Friday we took three teams to the Matt Giteau Cup – a rugby competition for Primary Schools. I thought our students were impeccably behaved and humble in both victory and defeat – an absolute credit to the school. Our Year 4 team (Winners) and our Year 5 team (Runner’s Up) have qualified to play at GIO Stadium before a Trans-Tasman match in the near future. Students in those teams will receive details regarding this opportunity when they come to hand.

College Cabaret – Thursday 20 May. I look forward to seeing the Junior School students perform during this 4-12 event.

Junior School Assembly – Thursday 27 May. We look forward to celebrating achievement within the classroom. Parents/carers of students receiving awards will be notified approximate a week prior.

South Weston Cross Country – Wednesday 2 June. Students who have qualified will be notified by Mr Fox and will bring a permission form home.
