Rugby Heritage Round – August, 2018

Saturday 4 August saw St Edmund’s College host their annual Heritage/Old Boys Round against cross-town rivals Marist College.

15 games were played across the day, with Eddies coming away with 7 wins. Special guests Brother Bob Wallace, Bishop Pat Power and Michael Maloney enjoyed the fantastic Rugby on show and community atmosphere.

By 3pm it was standing room only in the grandstand as families, friends, current students and many old boys watched the First XV match. Our boys walked on in the classic heritage jersey, worn by many proud old boys before them. Money was being raised for the Leukaemia Foundation, and our boys proudly wore the leukaemia blue to support this worthy cause. Over $1000 was raised on the day.

Our First XV were slow out of the starting blocks, finding themselves 21 points down and no points scored. An epic comeback saw the boys finish strongly, but not quite close enough, with Marist winning the match 32-31.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported this fantastic day.
