Year 12 Retreat: Connecting, Being and Letting our Light Shine

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Last week, our year 12 cohort embarked on their annual retreat nestled in the serene surroundings of Jindabyne. Each day brought forth a new focus, inviting the boys to delve into the depths of their relationships, aspirations, talents, and mindfulness of the world around them.

The level of engagement displayed by the boys was truly remarkable. Stepping away from their usual routines, they dedicated three days to forge connections with their peers, to immerse themselves fully in the present moment, and to engage in profound discussions about their future paths.

The retreat was rich with diverse activities aimed at fostering personal growth. From lighthearted games to heartfelt sharing sessions, from the awe-inspiring backdrop of an outdoor chapel overlooking Lake Jindabyne to insightful workshops on mindfulness, prayer, and life beyond year 12, each moment held significance. On the second evening, we united in a solemn Mass, followed by the opportunity for Reconciliation guided by Fr. Chris Eaton MGL, who imparted wisdom on the essence of restoring relationships and the true meaning of reconciliation.

As our retreat journey drew to a close, we gathered together to symbolically pass on the light from one individual to the next, culminating in a collective intention and promise: to let our light shine brightly throughout our final year at the college.

The retreat was a wonderful success, especially due to the hard work and dedication to the team who assisted in facilitating it. A special thanks to Fr Chris Eaton, Miss Caroline Devlin, Ms Klara Manenica, Ms Anna Blore, Mr Trent Masters, Mr Joachim Fatiatki and Ms Monica Day.
